Your wedding day should be the most memorable and documented day of your life. A wedding photo should remind you of a moment in time that captures authentic love shared between you and your partner, along with family and friends. Some photographers are gifted and have the ability to capture the beautiful stillness in that moment. One of those photographers is Hannah Lane Giddings.
Allow us to introduce to you the DIY Wedding Conference photographer Hannah Lane Giddings of Hannah Lane Photography. She will capture pictures throughout the day at the conference on November 15, 2015. We had an opportunity to sit down with Hannah to learn about her start in photography and her passion to document her client’s most memorable day.
How did you get into wedding photography?
I am always loved photography. When I was seven years old I received my first camera from a good family friend. The camera had been dropped so there was a rubber band holding the battery cover on, but I didn’t care. I started taking pictures of everything! That was the start of my love affair with photography. I went to school for photography and graphic design, interned at Charleston Magazine as a photographer, and started working after that. I photographed my first wedding in 2009 and it just stuck from there.
Tell us a little bit about yourself
I was born and raised in the beautiful city of Charleston, SC (and couldn’t be more proud of it). I currently live in Annapolis, MD with my handsome husband Daniel. I come from a family of six and have worked for myself since I was 18. I adore capturing families, documenting your business, and celebrating your life through photography. My husband and I are also about to launch an online fine art print shop called Inlet Creek Studio. We will be selling fine art travel prints from all over the US and beyond. Instagram and Facebook
Do you ever work with a team, or do you photograph solo?
Generally, I work alone. Though I got married last August and my husband, Daniel, has very recently started shooting with me. He photographed his first wedding with me last month and we plan on him shooting with me on occasion in the future.
What’s your favorite part of wedding photography?
I love the interaction with all the people I get to work with. I’m an extrovert, so I love meeting new clients, their families, and watching one of their most important days of their lives unfold before me. It’s one of the most special moments and I get to capture that with my camera.
What are 5 questions couples should ask when talking with a wedding photographer?
Are you available on my wedding date?
Will I receive prints, digital files, a disk and/or an online gallery?
How long after the event will my photos/disk/album be ready?
Will there be a second photographer/ Do I need a second photographer?
How much of a deposit do you require and when is it due? Do you offer a payment plan?
What area are you located in?
I am based out of Annapolis, Maryland and Charleston, South Carolina but I absolutely LOVE traveling for weddings. No place is too far. I’ve photographed weddings all over the east coast, some on the west coast, and midwest.
Do you have a favorite type of wedding?
I LOVE outdoor weddings. The light and beautiful weather is my absolute favorite! I’m a natural light photographer, so any chance I get to play with the sun’s light is my favorite.
